Intent to Return
Please make sure to fill out the Intent to Return form for the 2016-17 school year. This form helps us plan our enrollment for the next school year and we’d like to hear from you! It also lets us know if you’d like to enroll siblings or if you plan on leaving. As in recent years, we expect to have more new students that want to enroll at ERCLC than we have spaces available. Forms need to be returned to Heather by March 1st to claim your students’ seat at ERCLC for the following year.
We have four camping trips left in the school year. We will travel to Napa Valley in February, Death Valley in March, Lava Beds in April and Channel Islands in May. I hope the camp trips have helped create community as well as make memories. The Channel Islands trip has 75 spots available and priority will be given to families who have attended at least one other trip, and first time participants will be placed on a wait list.
2015-16 Eleanor Roosevelt Yearbook
Do you take a lot of pictures of your students homeschooling at home, out and about or on field trips? Please consider sharing your pictures with the yearbook. Your family may also like to help make a page.
Make-up pictures for class pages will be 2/1 – 2/4 during lunch in the Baby Redbud room in Visalia and in Fresno on 2/3 at lunch or you may submit your own headshot.
Graduating 8th and 12th graders may be congratulated with special submissions by their families. All submissions must be received by April 1 – no joke! Please send them to: firstname.lastname@example.org
If you have any questions, please contact Bobbi or Sher. To order a yearbook, please see Nancy. Cost is $16.00 and payment must be made when you order.

The next Parent Workshop will be held Thursday, February 18th, during meeting week, from 10:00 am to noon. The topic will be “How to Take Care of Yourself While Homeschooling Your Children.” Staff will offer strategies and advice, and we would like parents to bring their ideas as well.
Research Sharing Day
Wednesday, February 24 at 12:30 for 6-12th and Thursday, February 25 at 12:30 for K-6th in Visalia. (Afternoon classes will be cancelled so we can all enjoy the presentations.)
All students are encouraged to participate in Research Sharing Day. This is your student’s chance to give an oral presentation and teach others about what they have studied for Research Month. It is also a great opportunity to learn about the interests of other students.
Please limit presentations to under 5 minutes. A visual aid helps presentations tremendously, but is not required. Digital presentations can hook up to the classroom television – either bring your own device with a HDMI connection or use the school’s computer to connect to the internet (if you are unsure of the technology, test it out beforehand).
Mark your calendars for Thursday, February 25th 4 PM – 7 PM.
This semester’s Leadership class is inviting ALL students that attend Monday and Wednesday classes in Visalia and all 6th – 12th grade students to a mask workshop at 4 PM and dance 5 – 7 PM in Visalia. Snacks will be available for purchase. The committees are working together to define the specific details. We look forward to dancing with your mysteriously masked and costumed selves! Please contact Bobbi for more details; once again, our students are asking parents to not participate on the dance floor. Parents are welcome to commune as a group in the Parent Lounge.
Paris Travelers’ Upcoming Fundraisers
The Paris travelers have their last two big fundraisers coming up and we appreciate your continued support. “Walk For Paris” is a ten mile walkathon that will take place here at school on March 1st. Students will be seeking pledges and donations for their miles walked. Also, we will be collecting gently-used children’s clothing, toys (no broken or missing parts) and maternity wear to sell at the Just Between Friends sale coming up in March.
Young Author’s Faire
Sponsored by TCOE, the Young Author’s Faire is an opportunity for students in grades K-8 to create their own book. If your student is interested in participating, please see Roseanne for details and more information. Books must be submitted to Roseanne by March 8th. The Faire will display student work from April 4-8.
Poetry and Prose
TCOE offers our students the opportunity to perform poetry in a group setting. If your student would like to recite a poem or their own written prose, please save these dates March 8, 10, 11, 15, 16 & 17 as we await our assigned time from TCOE. Please contact Bobbi by 2/1 to sign up. Our first practice is Tuesday, 2/9 @ 3:30 in Sage. The performance details will be shared as soon as we are notified by the County.
Soon we will be launching a new communication app for parents at ERCLC! Parent Square is a website and app that will allow us to communicate more effectively with all of you. Soon you will be sent an email invitation to create Parent Square account.
CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance & Progress)

Students in grades 3-8 and 11 will participate in the computerized assessments. Students in grades 5, 8 and 10 will take the paper and pencil Science assessment. More details to come in March.
