ERCLC is now accepting applications for the 2017-18 (home)school year.
If you know of anyone that is interested in coming to ERCLC, you can let them know we have information sessions and tours on Feb 9th, March 2nd, and April 6th at 11am. Please RSVP with Heather, or call 559-592-9160 x201. For the best chance at getting in, we strongly encourage families to get their completed applications in by the end of February.

Mark your calendars for some helpful workshops. These are opportunities to improve your skills and gain information that will benefit your teaching and your child’s learning.
January 31 at 10:30 (Library) Online Resources – Learn to find and use online resources available to you for free. This would be helpful for Research Month.
February 7 & 9 at 9:00 & 10:40 (Valley Oak) Math – Come to the Seven 8 Nine class with your child and see how fun teaching and learning math can be.
February 28 at 10:30 (Library) Opinion/Argument Writing – Get some lesson plans and ideas on how to teach your child about opinion & argument writing before the final writing sample of this type is due. Give yourself a boost with some skills to help your child be successful!
March 7 at 9:00 & 10:40 (Valley Oak) Fractions – Tracey, the math specialist from the Tulare County Office of Education, will be here to share ideas on how to teach fractions. She will work with the Tuesday Seven 8 Nine class. From 1:00-2:00 she will be conducting a parent-focused workshop. She will be available after the workshop for a Q & A and to assist with specific issues.
March 9 at 9:00 & 10:40 (Valley Oak) Fractions – Join the Seven 8 Nine class to see Tracey’s fraction lessons in practice. This will be an opportunity for the parents with students in the Thursday class to see the ideas put into practice as previously demonstrated.
March 30 at 10:30 (Library) Journal Writing with Prompts – Learn how to use prompts to get your child writing. You will also learn ways to extend this type of writing to help your child improve and enjoy writing more.
February 6-9 (Library) Usborne Book Fair – Heather Hilscher, an ERCLC parent, will have selected Usborne Books on display for purchase in the library. The entire collection will be available online and Heather can also take your order from the catalog if you don’t find it at the fair. Your purchases help to build our Usborne collection of books in our library.
February 6 – ERCLC Presents Career Spotlight: Professional Actress – 4:30pm in Valley Oak. Tatiana Quaresma, professional actress and winner of the global acting competition, Hollywood Immersive, will be with us to speak about pursuing a career in the film/television industry: auditions, how to seek representation, managers versus agents, etc. For a clip of her winning audition beating out 5000 other actors, click here.
February 7 – Poetry and Prose Information Meeting – 3:30 (Baby Redbud) If your student is interested in reciting and performing in front of an appreciative and enthusiastic audience, meet with us in Baby Redbud for information and to practice as a small group. Contact Bobbi by 2/14 to register for participation in Tulare County Office of Education’s 33rd annual Oral Interpretation event.
February 8 and 9 – Bake Sale – be sure to bring your money to purchase delicious items from the bake sale to support the high school trip to the Grand Canyon and Mesa Verde.
February 10 – Board Games Happening – 3:00-5:30 (Library) Novices welcome. Game masters on hand to teach. 4th grade and on up.
February 17-19 Anza-Borrego Camp Out – enjoy the desert, wildflowers and our ERCLC community on this first campout of 2017. Sign up with Nancy.
New Brighton State Beach Camp Out is next — sign up starting Feb 21 for the March 10-12 campout.
February 22 & 23 – Research Sharing Day – 12:30 – 3:00 – No afternoon classes – Share what you have learned during research month and teach your friends about your exciting topic. Presentations should be 2 to 5 minutes. Focus on what you think is most important and others will find most interesting. A visual aid is highly recommended (slide show, poster display, objects, illustrations). You may also share copies of your report.
February 24 – Friday Fairy Making Workshop from 10:00 to noon – Roekmini Pullom will be teaching a basic fairy making class. They are about 2.5 to 3 inches tall and have flower petal skirts. ERCLC will cover the costs for parents and students. Parents and students can both attend, either together or separately. Parent helpers will be needed for younger students.
February 28 – Intent to Return and Accepting new applications for 2017-18 – If you plan on having your student remain at ERCLC for the 2017-18 school year, or if you plan on enrolling a new sibling, it is imperative that we have your Intent form returned to Heather (in the admission office) by the end of the day February 28, 2017. If we do not have it in hand, your child’s spot will be surrendered.
March 15 & 16 – Submissions due for the Young Authors’ Faire. If your student would like to participate, please contact Roseann for more information.
