Rose Ann Gutierrez has been an Education Coordinator at Eleanor Roosevelt since 2001.
She believes that children learn by doing and having real life experiences. Rose Ann has taught classes in gardening, sewing, Explorers, Spanish, math, Book Club, handicrafts and cooking.
Rose Ann grew up in Mexico, graduated from the University of Guadalajara as a Literature major. She taught ESL at the British Institute and Spanish to foreign students at the University of Guadalajara. She worked as an interpreter and translator, volunteered for 4H and was a La Leche League leader and worked at a birthing center.
She homeschooled her three sons and along with her husband, Luis, farmed 43 acres of organic citrus. They used the irrigated pasture to graze lambs, goats, and chickens. Her sons Ricky and David are now engineers and Mark is completing his doctorate in piano performance at UCSB.
Rose Ann is proud to work at ERCLC, a community that provides the opportunity for children to grow up to be caring human beings that are productive citizens of our society.
